television sucks. especially on sundays.

okay so i had this idea in my head & decided i'd make a project of it. here is a list of events, moments, & people that have happened in the year 2007 for me...

january.
after a reunion performance in november of 2006, empty handed nj entered echo studios to begin recording our first release since 2001. the idea came along after discussing the changes made since most of these songs were originally written. so we made our way into the studio & spent some time over the next couple of months working with jason grosse. from the original list we made of songs we wanted to track, we ended up recording a couple of extra songs. all of which was due to what we felt was a quick progress on tracking drums. prior to entering echo on the first day of recording, our former bassist, marshall had bailed on us & as a result, i tracked all of the bass in addtion to my guitar & vocals. later in the month, i went up to nyc with pj & duncker for pj's 24th birthday. it was an extremely interesting adventure. i saw & met a lot of people who you just dont see everyday or expect to bump into casually. i had fun. sadly that was the last time i made my way up to the city & i've been itching to make a trip back up there since. one of these days.

february.
about midway through the month, take today played our first show of the new year. the band played the 449 room in trenton, nj & pj came along for the ride to pretty much play the role of camera two during our set. actually, let me rephrase; drunk camera two. haha. after the show, pj, paul, katie, & myself hung around & spent the remainder of the evening being goofy. it was a fun night. seriously. the day after the show, i cut my hair for the first time since the previous june. my hair had gotten insanely long & after seeing photos from the show, i realized i needed to cut it, badly. the night prior to the show, pj received free tickets to a phantoms hockey game in the city. good times. also my favorite movie, the science of sleep, came out on dvd. woo!

march.
during the month a few interesting things happened. the band managed to squeeze in a couple shows. championships in trenton midway through the month with the clampdown. at the end of the month we played the street road bar & grille in bensalem, pa. which in my opinion was probably one of our best shows ever. we tore through our set with so much energy & just went all out. that night i met lareina at the show & for the next few months that definitely panned out to be something interesting & quite notable. also during the month i reconnected with katy, my ex from back in 2001. infact, the day of my show in bensalem, pa, she let my cut probably close to 10 inches of her hair off. i also fell in love with XXX vitamin water that month. amazing.

april.
after the show at the end of march, eric preuss joined take today as our 3rd guitarist, something we joked about trying for a long time. we spent a lot of our time throughout the month teaching eric the songs & adjusting to the new line up. eric played his first show later in the month at championships in trenton. prior to the show, dan was called into a job which resulted in him not being able to make the show. so our first show with eric was still as a 4 piece. haha. other parts of the month were spent hanging out with the usual friends doing the same usual things. helped jay out a bit with building the new studio & spent more time hanging out with lareina, don't think i had much to complain about at the time.

may.
at the end of march, grosse & craigle sold echo studios & grosse started working on his new place. as part of the transition, both jays put in a good word for us. so at the start of may, the band went in 50/50 for a monthly rehearsal space with paul's other band. with the advantage of having 24hr access to our space, i definitely spent a lot of time at the studio. most of it was spent getting better on drums & it helped, seriously. Empty Handed NJ started mixing our EP at jay's new studio. continued hanging out with the same people, take today finally made our 5 piece debut at the cue club 2 in delran, nj. it was a pretty solid time. we pretty much had a party going on outside of the show & a lot of faces showed up, old & new. around that time, my dad finally started to go through divorce #2. & at the end of the month, i had a chance to play the role of "photographer" for brad's band of the time. it was fun.

june.
towards the beginning of the month, take today played the Relay For Life benefit at delran high school. we performed outside at 3am on the football field in the end zone. definitely can't forget that performance. a few weeks later, we made our return to the cue club 2 for our last show of the year, leading to our summer-long hiatus. after that show i decided to shave my head for no real reason. lareina & i lost touch over a few reasons. i took a well needed break from everything & spent a couple days hiding out on the beach with a friend of mine. much needed indeed.

july.
early in the month we had problems with the rehearsal space situation & ended up packing up & moving out. with the band being on hiatus, i spent a lot of time out & about sorting my thoughts. additional time was spent on the beach & in the last days of the studio space, i brought my bike out & enjoyed the summer days riding all about the bristol, pa area. i also did a bit of photography for a friend, which ended up being used to get accepted as a suicide girl. also, our apartment had to be repainted & re-carpeted. so as a result, i redid my entire room & such. nice change of pace, really.

august.
i made a brief return to my merch slingin' days & worked the warped tour in camden, nj. it was a pretty fun day. made me miss being on tour a bit. i got to see a lot of old faces throughout the day & that made me feel great. other time was spent hanging with friends as usual. empty handed nj played a show in parlin, nj with mike on bass. nothing like our reunion show but a nice change of pace from not playing at all. at the end of the month, take today started rehearsing again... why?

september.
take today entered 1021 studios with jay grosse & started work on our first ep since 2005. since the hiatus, a lot of things changed & shifted everything. dan quit the band prior to recording, feeling he could no longer give us his all. due to a new job, eric was unable to come to the studio throughout the entire recording process. but of course, we still pressed forward. at some point, brad & i started hanging out a lot more which was pretty rad. also towards the end of the month, wendy from germany was in the states & we finally got a chance to hang out.

october.
spent more time in the studio working on the take today recordings. me & brad spent tons of time going out to shows, parties, & wherever. for halloween, i went all out & dressed up as iron man. best costume i could ever purchase. it was a hit. i honestly couldn't complain about anything. me & brad saw the lawrence arms, the falcon, & sundowner together. amazing.

november.
more parties, more shows, more studio time. not too far into the month me & julie met & had ourselves a movie date. nice change of pace. we started hanging out as much as our schedules would allow. still spending my daytime working & nights tracking. i turned 25 towards the end of the month & finally got myself a digital license. again, more time spent going to shows & hanging out with friends. saw the rx bandits with paul & brad.

december.
work, studio, friends. new tattoo. saw steve borth ex-rx bandits, ex-link 80 perform his solo act satori. really good. seriously.
